Thatcham's market traces it's origins back to the reign of Henry 1st to at least the year of 1125AD.
On the 17 September 2021 a re-enactment was held of the day the troublesome market traders of Newbury (in Red) caused a disturbance with the market traders of Thatcham (in Blue), resulting in a Royal protection order by King Henry 2nd. The King's representative shown here in Brown.
